I used hard side light by using two strip boxes but I took off the diffuser in the front for a higher output. Also, my assistant (Ric Tapia) is holding the light up towards him so its gets under his hat.
Thanks for looking! I will should have another one pretty soon. I promise.

You are awesome!

Dustin,
What is minor league team name… Norco? Tell me you didn’t shoot these photos there, you might need to get your camera cleaned after that shoot from all the smog and cow “S#$%” stink. That is one awful place! Great work as usual… I learn a ton with all of you blog insider setups, keep it coming we have all missed your posts.

Hi Dustin,
I bookmarked your site ages ago and just checked it again to see if you started blogging again, and you did!
Nice pictures, I especially like the last one. What kind of post-processing did you do on it?
[Reply]
How did you get 1/320th sync speed with the D3? and your flash setup?
[Reply]
Superb work. I love the wide angle shot! I’m really glad to see you blogging again. Keep ‘em coming.

Love the shots. Thanks for the setup info! One question, how much post did you do/are you allowed to do when you’re shooting for ESPN Rise?
[Reply]
Woah! Great work. Funny, I had a similar idea to your first frame a couple of weeks ago. Although, mine isn’t lit nearly as well.

I am so happy that you share your set ups. I am a portrait photographer, with a high school B-Ball player shoot next week. I have delousions of grandure, using my flashes to obtain simular shots like yours. Cant wait! Thanks so much! D3 syncs at and beyond 320, my D200 syncs at 200. Other than that, its on like ping pong.

Great frames! keep it coming!

These are great. I’ll have to add this to my “to try” list.

Wow, that third shot is amazing! The texture, movement, pose, light, sky, color treatment. It would make a sweet poster.
Can’t wait to see more of your work.

Dustin,
Do you have a preference on Cameras Nikon D3 or Canon MKIII. Upgrading a few Canon MKIIN’s and see you have used both recently. Any input is appreciated.

Dustin,
Great shots!
How did you get a 1/320 shutter speed on the last photo?
[Reply]
I bumped the dial
Sometimes, depending on your lights. You are able to sync at a slightly higher shutter speed. I noticed with my old canon stuff I was able to do this more.
Other times when you do it you will get a split frame from where the sensor didnt catch the light, but you can just crop it out.

Great pictures, thank you for sharing your setup, we can surely use the experience when we hook up in Deep sea fishing.

Great stuff!! Thanks for highlighting the light set up. I particularly like the first image. It has a slight mysterious feeling with the shadow imagery effects being used. Thanks for sharing.

The photos look amazing. I’m wondering how much of it is photoshop effects and how much is the raw photo. It would be nice to see them side by side. But in any case, the final result is unreal, especially the one that’s pitching the ball. Beautiful lighting.

Those would make some great pictures for autograph seekers like my husband. Do you sell pictures?
